Course outcomes
- The ability of students to apply advanced spreadsheet techniques using Excel for data entry, manipulation, formula creation, functions, lookups, conditional analysis, and worksheet management.[K3]
- The ability of students to Analyze and summarize data using Excel tools such as charts, Pivot Tables, Power Query, Data Validation, Analysis ToolPak, and data visualization techniques.[K4]
- The ability of students to develop interactive business intelligence solutions using Power BI by creating data models, reports, dashboards, visualizations.[K6]
- The ability of students to design and implement effective data visualizations and dashboards using Tableau, including data preparation, calculations, mapping, and visualization.[K6]
Unit I (12 lectures)
Introducing Excel, exerting and editing worksheet data- exploding, modifying, performing best worksheet operations, working with excel ranges and tables, formatting worksheet, understanding excel files and templates, printing your work, customizing the excel user interface, working with formulas and functions- array, math, dates. Using formulas to manipulate text, conditional analysis, matching, LookUps.
Unit II (10 lectures)
Getting started with excel charts, advanced charting techniques, creating graphics, managing and analysing data, data validation,, linking and consolidating worksheet, pivot tables, analyzing data with pivot tables, analysis toolPak, protecting your work,internal data model, power query, summarizing data using data visualization, power view and 3D maps.
Unit III (10 lectures)
Getting started with Power BI, uploading data, introducing natural language queries, quick insight, reports, visual interactions, decorating, saving report, pinning, filtering, sharing the dashboard, understanding data refresh, using Power BI Desktop, Getting data from services and content packs, building a data model, improving power BI reports, getting data from existing system, integrating Power Bi with office, managing security to access data, extending and customising power BI.
Unit IV (10 lectures)
Tableau Introduction, creating Worksheet,dashboard, connecting tableau to your data, measure name and values, tableau concepts, exporting data to other devices. Getting your data ready, tableau prep builder, all about data-joins, blends, data structure, table calculations, data densification, cubes and big data, level of detail calculations, beyond the basic chart types, mapping, tableau for presentations, visualization best practices and dash board design.
