Course outcomes (same as AR118)
- Understanding the basics of Diodes and designing biasing schemes for transistor circuits. [K1, K2, K3]
- Analyzing the description of JFET and MOSFET devices. [K1, K2, K3]
- Apply operational amplifier (Op-Amp) characteristics to design and analyze various linear and non-linear Op-Amp circuits. [K1, K2, K3]
- Foundational understanding of power amplifiers, filters, and multivibrators for effective signal processing and waveform generation. [K1, K2, K3, K4]
Unit I
P-N Junctions: Junction diode theory, forward bias and reverse bias, reverse-bias breakdown, Diode applications- clippers, clampers, half wave & full wave rectification, Special purpose diodes - Zener diode, Light Emitting Diode. Bipolar Junction Transistor: BJT basics, Configurations, DC operating Point, variation and its stability, BJT characteristics and parameters, BJT as an amplifier and as a switch, Biasing circuits, Single stage BJT amplifiers.
Unit II
FET: Introduction to Junction Field Effect Transistor, Characteristics of JFET, Merits and demerits of JFETs. MOSFET Circuits: Fundamentals of MOS structure, FET Types, n & p-type Depletion-type and Enhancement-type MOSFET structures, I-V characteristics, MOSFET as a switch.
Unit III
Operational Amplifiers: Ideal op-amp: Definition, Block diagram, Operation, Characteristics, μA 741 pin diagram, Output offset voltage, input bias current, input offset current, CMRR, slew rate, gain bandwidth product, Inverting and Non-inverting amplifiers, Differentiator, integrator,Op-amp voltage adder, Square-wave and Triangular-wave generators, Log and Antilog amplifier.
Unit IV
Power amplifiers: Class A amplifier, Class B Push-Pull amplifier, Class C Tuned amplifier. Filters: Definition, working Passive: low pass, high pass, and band pass filters. Multivibrators: Block Diagram and Internal Architecture of 555 Timer, Astable Multivibrator, Monostable Multivibrator, Bistable Multivibrator.
